This is a classic example of a typical Aussie outback pub. The Larrimah Wayside Inn is a pub / restaurant /caravan park/ mini zoo located on the Stuart Hwy just south of Katherine. They reckon they have the tallest bar in the territory – its 184.04 meters above sea level – of course thats not the top of the bar π .I stopped here on my treck from Darwin to Albury – Wodonga and thought it was one of the best pubs I had seenΒ – I was disappointed I didn’t have enough time to stop and have a beer with the locals. I did have time to have a quick look around though and not only does this pub have a giant panther sitting outside , it also has a mini zoo around the back and a room full of snakes (its ok they are in aquariums !). There is also the famous tinnie wall which I guess is a tribute to beer cans …. So if your in Australia and just happen to be traveling southbound down the Stuart Highway pull in and check it out !
